Ski Jumping

Hi guys, last Saturday we went to the ski jumping event close to Whistler. A 20-minute cab ride brought us to the 140 long jump. Armed with some little swiss flags and a hot chocolate (it was -10 degres) we watched the competition. Even though we cheered Simon Amman on as much as we could he hadn't had his best day and lost his first place in the ranking.. It was impressive to see the jumps but after a couple it became boring. Why don't they make spins or backflips... :-) Would be much more interesting. I rather watch snowboard events.. :-)
Today there's also the Australian Day. That's a big event in Whistler too because there are about 60 % Australians here. Today's gonna be a bbq and drinking day, i guess. :-)
Furthermore i just came back from the physiotherapist. It's now alreaday the second week at home, but my back fells much more better. Hope i can go riding soon. :-)
'ight, take care! greets moritz

I'm flying high!
Where is the other swiss guy?
Oh, here he is, looks so dozy, not in a good condition to jump 140 m... But we still believe in you, go simi! :-)

Shit happened

to me... unfortunately. Just 3 days after i was recovered i went riding. (The was last Monday the 12th) The sun was shining after one week of rain (!) in the village, the snow was good and therefore i was quite motivated - maybe a bit too much. The night before we had an awesome session in our backyard snowboardpark. I finally learned how to do fs boardslides for those who know what that is. :-) So i wanted to try them in the terrain park. After one warm-up run i went to the park and on the second jump i fell. Right on the jump the nose of my snowboard slid away and thus my position was so askew (there are 33 translations for "schräg"... :-)) that i fell with my back on the table, that's the flat area before the landing. I couldn't breathe anymore for a moment and felt a stabbing pain. I knew that i couldn't ride anymore and that my day was over. So to make the most of the situation i went to restaurant and enjoyed the nice view with a hot chocolate. After i downloaded with the gondola (funny expression isnt' it?) i hobbled home and felt that it's more serious than i assumed. I went to the hospital the next day and it turned out that i have a musle contuison on the muscles right next to the spine. (Muskelprellung) I was lucky that i didn't injure my spine or the intervertebral discs (Bandscheiben) but it's annoying anyway.
Since this Monday i spent all the days without doing a lot of sport or movement. Unfortunately i was sunny the whole week and everybody was riding exept me. Well, shit happens..
Tomorrow i have an apointment with the physiotherapist and hope that i can go riding soon. Until then i keep on watching movies, playing tichu online (:-)), learning english or making small walks or hikes.
OK, not it's time to do sth. It's 2 o'clock in the afternoon and i'm sitting still in front of my computer with the Dul-X on my back. :-) Take care guys outthere and see you soon! Greetings, Moritz

Happy New Year

Hey Happy New Year, even if it's a little bit delayed.. :-) I hope you all slid well into the new year (i hoffe dir sit guet überegrütscht). I definitely did, almost with my snowboard on a box. But let me start some hours ago..
For this great evening we all went to another house and celebrated there. Everybody who lives here does that. Houseparty is hip! The clubs were incredible expensive, only the tourist go there. Furthermore all the police is in the village so all around you can do what ever you want. We had a nice dinner there, a friend who lives there made about 8 kilogramms of "härdöpfu-gratin" and because he works in a restaurant he could get a lot of free burgers. Furthermore we had a awesome snowbar and a little backyard snowboard park. Instead of snowboarding i prefered the camera and took some shots. I considered that after some drinks i might be a bit dangerous i hit yourself over the rail.
All together it was a nice night even though we almost forgot the countdown.. :-) Do avoid problems with finding the right bus which drives you home i decided to sleep there and return the next morning which was a good decision in the end.. After a couple of hours sleep we all went to the mountain for some runs before the last bit of energy was used and we all went for a long, long sleep.
Because we are not bears we couldn't sleep for the whole winter and had to wake up some day. I worked one more day before the holiday period was over and it's a little bit more quiet now in the village. For once i didn't have to teach beginner. I had a level 6 instead so i could go riding like with friends and teach him how to do ollies and that kind of stuff.
Then unfortunately i sickened and was knocked out for the last 4 days. Now i feel better especially because i just had a cosy bath in the tub.. :-)
That's for now, buddies. Wish you all a pleasant time. Cheers, Moritz

The awesome snow-bar with grill, of course
Setup of our little backyardpark. Soon there will be more!
Japanese frontside boardslide, yeah.
