Hey dudes! I'm just coming back from a very nice evening! We went to a bar in which every sunday there's a jam session. So everybody can come and play. All instruments are there. Oh, it was so nice to play the drums again even if it's just a snare, hi-hat and a bass drum.. better than nothing, and you can have a lot of fun! The bar was full and the atmosphere wicked. Yeah that's all I wanted to say, have a nice time!

1 month in Canada
Hey everybody!
I'm already one month in Canada now.. Time runs so fast here.. :-) The last week was very good. The school is very nice because there aren't a lot of students and It's almost like a big familiy. My teacher is the "director" of the school but not like in Switzerland. We had class together and went out together. It's funny to out with your teacher.
Beside the school I was shopping in the village and tried to get on with the village and streets which seem like a labyrinth. The people in the village are very nice and very outgoing. Even a 50-year-old office clerk asks you what you are doing here in Whistler and try to help you whereever they can. But it's crazy: Except on Tuesday you have a party in one club, at the weekend everywhere! And It's not even high season, how will it be in the winter?
But I've still got to organize a lot of things. I need the find an accomodation which is very difficult here and even more expensive than in Switzerland. But I think I'll stay in a student house with other work-and-study-students. Like a big "WG" which will be very cool.
Another problem is that I can't aply for a job as instructor now because I need to make a instructor course first. But I think It'll be alright, because the teachers from the school know nearly everybody and they can arrange an interwie with the employer.
Yeah that's it from now! I'll put you also some pictures from yesterday when I walked along the few lakes they have here..
See you! Greets Moritz

First day in Whistler
Hey you lot! Today not the laundry woke me up but the two little children... :-) But I have to say that I'm so happy with this familiy. They're so nice and the chlidren so cute. Today I had the best breakfast since a long time, because in the last 3 weeks I had only cereals and white toast without anything (peanut butter is not really my thing...). I really enjoyed the kind of "müesli" they have here and the self-made jam. And like yesterday we had a stew (today with moose meat) for dinner which was delicous. No comparision to what I ate for the last 3 weeks.
Also I've already met one neighbour who's a retiree so he had a lot of time to speak with me. He tried to refresh his german which was very funny for me. Also he stayed for dinner and we talked a lot about everything (From the gorvenment of Canada or USA across the flag of Berne to all his jobs he did in his life...) during the parents were busy to bring their chlidren to bed.
This afternoon I went to the village which took me about a 20 minute walk. After 3 weeks of a big town like Vancouver it's really nice to be closer to the nature. All the trees look so nice because of the fall. Just when I entered the village a girl came out of a store and said hello to me but in "bärndütsch". First I was confused but then I noticed that I really met someone from Berne. What a coincidence!! She went to the same school as I did and participated in the Funk Fever (=> Mirjam who was one of the lead singer for those who know her). She lives in Kitimat which is further to the north and they have a vacation trip to vancouver with the student-exchange-year-company and today they visited Whistler..
Whistler is a nice village but you can see that everything is quite new. It's absolutely no comparison to the nice little villages in the alps of Switzerland. It has a lot of shops and you can see that in winter there will be a lot people around. But at the moment the atmosphere is like "Ruhe vor dem Sturm"... (anyone who has an english translation for this german expression is very welcom)
So I feel very happy here and can't wait for the first snow. But first I've to go school which starts tomorrow, that's why I have to finish for now, but you'll hear about me soon!
Greetings Moritz

From the city to the village
Hey there! Yesterday was my last day in Vancouver: Because it was Friday and "movie weather" (=raining) we saw two movies in school.. :-) So after the graduation and the picture with the whole class I had my last evening coming. I went to a birthday party of another student and it was quite funny. With good beer from the Granville Brewery (similar to the Tramdepot) and nice people the party was great. We also had a little jam. The birthday boy had his guitar and I played the congos from his homestay father... :-) And a few mexicans danced and sang..
My Class
Today I woke up very early because one philipinian guy prefered to make his laundry at 7.30 am (!). And as I said before the laundry room is directly next to my room, so whenever the laundry machine rumbles my room does the same. So I wasn't in a hurry to pack all my stuff. At 3.00 pm I took the bus to Whistler and said goodbye to my two other roommates but not to my homestay father because he wasn't there... For what reason soever...
I had a really nice trip with the bus. For an hour we drove along the shore and then turned to the mountains. The coastline remebered me a little bit of the one from Norway with all his fjords and bays. And now finally I'm here in Whistler. My first impression of the familiy is very good. They have a nice house which is located a little bit outside of the village. They have two children, Derek who's 22 month old and Isabella who's 14 month old. And also a dog called Luna belongs to the Family. I had already dinner and fortunately it wasn't rice! Juhu! After 3 weeks of rice, salmon and a stew made me feel like in the heaven.. :-)
I think with this family I'll be a lot more happy than the one in Vancouver.
So that's it for the moment, I'll write you soon!
Regards Moritz

Soccer in Vancouver
Hey I'm just back from School and playing soccer. We went to a park near to Downtown with a nice view:

It's no Wednesday and that means I've only got three days left in Vancover. This is a little bid sad, because I know now a lot of people in School and feel very comfortable. But I'm looking forward to Whistler (I've got already the tickets...) and think I'll meet there the same nice people. And I can't wait for the first canadian snow and my first ride here on the canadians mountains!
So guys, I hope you have also a great time wheresoever you are!

Stanley Park and other stuff
Hello everybody!
Last Sunday the weather finally became better so we had to benefit of this nice day. I suggested to go the Stanley Park which is a huge park at the end of Downtown. But because of the two other guys we were too late to rent bycicles to drive around the peninsula. So, I went today after school on my own to see this nice piece of nature near the city. I visited also Chinatown and a nice little chinese park...

Last Monday we had Thanksgiving in Canada but because of my philipinian familiy we didn't celebrate it and there was also no turkey which you normally eat at this special day... :-) Instead of that we went to a swimming pool in the middle of Downtown. One friend of the school preferst to live in an apartment and not in a hostfamiliy and in her apartment there's a beatiful swimmingpool with a view to a lot of high-rise buildings. There was also a sauna where I spent the most of my time. After this evening I was so relaxed that I nearly overslept the next day...

Another pictures to show you how cold it was while the heater was damaged... :-)

In my room was and is still colder, because it is located at the corner of the house and the windows aren't isolated very well. An other reason is that hole you can see beyond which was the result of a friendly fight against Kevin... :-) This house is really special: Through this hole I can even hear mice who live in these walls which are thin like carton...
Another speciality is the smoke detector: Because there's no chimney for the smoke during the cooking the smoke detector is ringing all the time the philipinian are cooking... :-)

Evening in Downtown Vancouver
Hey guys, whats up? Yesterday I went out to Downtown Vancouver. First we went to an enormous cinema where a new snowboard movie was showed. The movie began at 9 pm and the door opened at 8 pm, so we thought it's better to meet us early enough, but when we'd met us at 8 pm there's was such huge line we had to stand in line around the corner... In front of the entrace was a big black red bull van with speakers on the roof and tv's where the trailer of the movie was showed, crazy...
As we finally got in, the cinema was filled in about a 20 minutes and all of the 1100 seats were taken. The movie was great and it made me really hot for snowboarding. :-) The atmosphere was just sick, like in an concert. Everybody was yelling and shouting, it was like in a stadium...

Imagine this place full of Snowboarders...

After the movie we went to a nightclub which wasn't very good, but on the way to this location we wanted to drink a beer on the way. Like I usually do in Berne. But the salesman of the beer shop rembered us that's it's forbidden to drink outside, not even when you put your bottle in a bag... I thought this is only practised in America, and the Canadians would be more easy-going, but so I learned something new.. :-)
After dancing and drinking we went home. Fortunatley we caught the last skytrain, which is at 1.30 am (!)...
Greets Moritz and enjoy your weekend
ps: From now on I would like to write in English, and so if you find terrible mistakes please let me know! :-)

Third Post
Hey zämä!
Bi mir isch iz 7 am abe, u mir hei grad znacht gässä, natürlech riis, was schusch... :-) aber hami dra gwönt... u grad i däm moment chunnt grad ä elektriker zur tür ine. natürlech ou ä philipin, u är gset me us wine baschtler. i hoffe mau ä cha üsi heizig flicke, die isch nämlech scho sit längerem kaputt. und sits hie in vancouver iz ou zimlech cheuter isch worde ische zwätter im huus öpe zgliche wie dusse, ussert dases nid inerägnet.. es isch ******chaut u i schlafe mit 3 techine u schlottere immer no weni am morge ufwache. ds isch ämu ä grund zum pünktlech id schu zga.
hüt hani ds nämlech nid gschaftt, wüu mer geschter i usgang si gange, anes chlises konzärtli imene club wo am weekend so überfüllt isch dasme öpe 3 viurtu stund asteit.. ds isch sowiso extrem hie: entweder hets hie in vancouver zwenig bars/clubs oder de hets eifach zviu lüt. wede am fritig oder am samschtig dür downtown loufsch gsesch überau lüt wo aschtö zum inega, o nume wes füre ganz normali bar isch, crazy.. doch znachtläbä isch scho rächt cool hie - einiges me los aus in bärn - näbä downtown wo extrem viu los isch, gitz ono e strass, rächt näch vu üs, wos extrem viu chlini cooli bars het, fasch i jedem gitz am weekend live musig.
Letscht weekend hani mi 2 roommates äntlech richtig us dr wonig chönne bewege: mir si miterer fähri vu downtown nach north vancouver gfare, hei dert när ä böss gno u si ufe huusbärg vu vancouver ufeghiket (Grouse Mountain), doch anstatt 50 min heimer öpe 2 h ka, ungerangerem ou wüu dr eint wo vu panama chunnt natürlech nid so a bärge gwönt isch und zimlech het müesse biisse.. blöderwis hetsech zwätter gänderet wärentdem mir üs eine hei abkrampfet, womer no am fuss vum bärg si gstande het no dsunne gschine, ope 1000 meter witer obe het üs ä chauti näbuwand erwartet und druf abe hets ono afa nisle.. darum simer när zimlech schnäu witer abe (ds mau mit dr gondle. die choschtet nämlech vür abe nume 5 dollar, abe für ufe 35, logik?)
am sunntig bin so richtig go shoppe, zersch hani dürnes inserat ir zitig ä supercoole usverchouf gfunge, irgendwo hinter dr skytrain station inere lagerhaue, het zimlech nach insider usgseh.. uf jede fau hani 2 t-shirts, u hoodie, a gfüettereti jagge und es paar sneakers füre nume 90 dollar becho, da setme natürlech nid nei.. :-)
no am gliche tag hani när äntlech mis lang ersehnte macbook kouft, nach däm ig zimlech problem ha ka bim gäut abhäbä: bir einte maschine chame nume 400 uf einisch abhäbä, und es chömme nume 20 dollar notene use, u mini kreditkarte isch kurzerhand mitemne code versehe worde vur schwyz us, woni ha versuecht 1000 dollar abzhäbä (mini limite..) lol... irgendwie hanis när doch gschafft u ha mitemne kuvert vou 20 dollar notene mis macbook chönne zahle, doch woners de het itippt, isches plötzlech me gsi, hm, tja i ha äbe die blöde taxes vergässä, wo nie ingegriert si in kanada u satti 12 % betrage, ds heisst nomau zumne automat... :-)
doch när hets de klappet u iz bini ämu sitem denn mini windows attidüdene am ablege und mi langsam aber sicher in mac-user afa z entwickle... :-)
